Catholic Shajara ("the App") is a daily Catholic readings and prayers app. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Location Data (optional): If you grant permission, we use your device location solely to find nearby Catholic churches using Google Places API. Location data is not stored on our servers.

App Preferences: Your language preference and favorite prayers are stored locally on your device using Android DataStore. This data never leaves your device.

Cached Content: Daily readings, reflections, and calendar data are cached locally on your device for offline access. This is standard app content, not personal data.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect personal information (name, email, phone number)
• We do not require account creation or login
• We do not track your usage or browsing behavior
• We do not use advertising or analytics SDKs
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase Realtime Database: To serve daily readings, reflections, prayers, and liturgical calendar data. No personal data is sent to Firebase.
• Google Places API: To find nearby churches when you use the Church Finder feature. Your location is sent to Google only when you explicitly use this feature.
• USCCB (bible.usccb.org): To fetch daily Catholic readings content.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The App does not require any personal information to function.

Data Security

All data is stored locally on your device or served from Firebase over encrypted HTTPS connections. We do not maintain any user databases or personal data servers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
